Travel Clinic

If you’re considering foreign travel, additional vaccinations could be an essential part of keeping you healthy during your visit. Different vaccines are required for certain countries, so it’s important that you consult your GP at least 6 to 12 weeks before you travel to ensure you receive the right immunisations. The recommended vaccines for travel depend on a number of factors, including your age, the location you’re travelling to, the season, your vaccination history, any underlying medical conditions you have and whether you’re pregnant.

Some diseases that should be considered are:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Influenza
  • Malaria prophylaxis
  • Japanese encephalitis
  • Meningococcal disease
  • Rabies
  • Tuberculosis
  • Typhoid
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
  • Yellow fever
  • Cholera
  • Measles

It’s important that you don’t wait until the last minute to visit our clinic to discuss your travel vaccinations as you might need more than one dose of a certain vaccine. You may also find that your body needs time to develop full immunity before you travel.

Our General Practitioners will provide all the information you need about the right travel immunisations for your trip abroad. Even if you have already been vaccinated for certain diseases, your immunity may have reduced or changed over time, so you may still require a booster dose for protection.
